Grace group...group interaction

No, this is not a typo but hopefully a helpful medium for GG discussion since all of us can't be in every group. I, and hopefully others could be encouraged by discussions of God that may have taken place within your group.

Helpful suggestions
1. Post what you learned about God in your group (no inside group jokes, but comments that might help others strive for a right view of God)
2. Keep it concise but don't feel as though you are confined to a single comment.
3. Helpful scriptures that were mentioned or not mentioned.
4. Meditations on Isaiah 40-66 as it relates to God's self-descriptions.

Nathan,

I'm so glad you did this post. I was thinking of something similar, but yours is better.

As it relates to our GG, and to all of them for that matter, the memory verse has been both staggering and life-giving. Especially the word "though" in verse 5.

"I am the LORD, and there is no other; besides Me there is no God. I will gird you, THOUGH you have not known Me; that men may know from the rising to the setting of the sun that there is no one besides Me..."

God is God, and He will use whatever, or whomever, He so chooses to glorify His great name. Even if the agent being used does not know God!

The "though" has driven me back to my knees to beg for mercy, and to realize that just because God may use a person to display His worth to others, does not necessarily indicate that the one being used is the Lord's!

Thank God for staggering words, and staggering verses that drag us back to the cross to revel in the wonder that "the Lord knows those who are His"...and at what a cost to Himself!

Job 38:35,36
"Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'? Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind?"

I was reminded of Job 38:35 as we read in Job Wed. night. How awesome is the imagery used to display God's majesty and power! Lightning seems so erratic and powerful in nature as if it has a mind of its own and the power to accomplish its will, but here we are reminded that the lightning is reporting to our God. Nothing is outside of his control and dominion. Also verse 36 reveals that ANY understanding or wisdom is from God's grace. How quick am I to forget this and rely upon my own abilities to live this life. O Lord, make us like babes coming to our Father, relying upon Him every moment of our lives! -KW

It has been especially helpful for me to realize that when I take my eyes off Christ and neglect His Word that my view of God will become, even if for a few moments, what my flesh perceives Him to be, and how sinful and dangerous this is...even if for a moment. I was encouraged and challenged by several comments of the absolute necessity that the Bible, with the help of the Holy Spirit, is where we are to derive our view of God! O, let me and us, be lovers of God by loving His Word!
